I have made an effort to find several good books that will help me to survive in the event of a major catastrophe. Books are going to be the most important way to retain skills after a major event happens.
I bought this book after researching several reviews on homesteading and such. This book covers a plethora of subjects. It is a very large book with very small print so if you have trouble reading smaller print, you might need a magnifying glass.
The information in this book is excellent! While no book can cover everything, this book covers a lot of useful information from how to raise and butcher animals to how to make cottage cheese. This book has so much information in it that it is entirely possible that this book can actually be "Everything you need to know to live off the land". While I wouldn't necessarily recommend using only this one book or any other single book for your survival. When buying books for your library buy as many books as you can. I do recommend that you include this one.
I found the information in this book to be very useful and easy to understand. The illustrations were also helpful. This book says that it has 1,887 illustrations in it, but I still think it could use more. There is about one or two illustrations per page, but much more information on every single page. Many topics are without pictures at all. Fortunately the information on each topic is very plain and easy to understand.
Overall, I found this book to be excellent with the exception of the font size. In their defense, if the font was bigger, the book would be absolutely HUGE. It is already big. I will live with the font size. I will just make sure I am wearing glasses when I read it.
