Changing weather and overpopulation will cause a decrease in available food and water.

I think the most likely doomsday scenario is one where food and supplies become limited either due to skyrocketing inflation with high unemployment &/or as a consequence of natural catastrophes happening at the same time (wild fires, drought, flooding, plant diseases, low/no bee pollination).

It's going to be a slow downward spiral so many people won't prepare.

Probably the most likely is some sort of virus that is easily transmitted. With global travel those are becoming one of the biggest threats, IMO.

We're long overdue for a massive solar flare, which would spare mankind, but would knock out or fry anything we have orbiting our planet, as well as any electrical grids within it's path. Preppers, survivors and the Amish will get along fine, everyone else….? Well, maybe not.

At this point I'd have to go with complete depletion of the atmosphere or burn-out of the sun!

Something that happens with a bit of geological consistency…

New Ice Age, magnetic polar reversal or the yellowstone caldera going kablooey. All of those would cause varying degrees of disaster.
