Doomsday Giveaway for November 2012!
For our Doomsday Giveaway for November 2012, we are giving away a SOL Origin – Survive Outdoors Longer.
The SOL Origin™ redefines the survival kit from the ground up. In one product that fits in the palm of your hand, the Origin™ gives you the collection of tools you need to survive the unexpected and make it back alive. Think of it as the ultimate cross breed of the traditional ten essentials and a survival kit, all wrapped up in one lightweight, easy to carry, indestructible package.
The heart of the Origin™ is its ABS-plastic waterproof case, which contains an array of key survival tools, including TinderQuik firestarting tinder, 150lb-test braided nylon cord, mil-spec stainless steel wire, and an emergency sewing and fishing kit. And, for those unfamiliar with wilderness survival, backcountry expert Buck Tilton’s survival instructions contain over 60 survival techniques and strategies.
However, the body of the case is really what sets the Origin™ apart – integrated into the lid is a flip-up Rescue Flash signal mirror with retroreflective aiming aid. Flip the case over, and find the one-hand-operable Fire Lite firestarter, as well as a removable liquid-damped compass. Finally, secured in a button-release slot is a fully-functional folding blade knife, with a 100db rescue whistle and ultra-bright LED light integrated into the knife handle. The AUS-8 drop-point blade has been designed for the precision cutting you need during survival emergencies, and it excels at slicing, whittling, and any task where blade control is essential.
The SOL Origin™ is the lightest, most space efficient, and most durable survival kit on the market. Welcome to the future of survival – the Origin™ is mandatory equipment for any outdoor adventurer.

Thank you everyone for saying all the nice things about The Doomsday Moose. I have tried to make this an interesting and informative place to visit. I also want it to be easy to find articles.
Thanks again for the kind comments and have a great doomsday!
its a great site with loads of handy info and products, keep it up!
cool site, good to be prepared!
great site easy to use and lots of great articles
Good information. We all need to be able to take care of ourselves when an emergency happens.
The site is really good, like all the useful tips, and the site itself is easy to read.
Very much doubt doomsday's on the way but stuff like this site could prove useful if you're stranded somewhere due to bad weather just out camping…
I really like the site. There is nothing I would change really. The colour scheme makes for easy reading. Reading your site has reawakened my love of the outdoors. Just today I made a "hobostove". Thanks for all the great tips.
Peter
Liked the discussion of colors for your bugout bag-my take is that I don't want bright colors in case I have to hide, but I wouldn't go camo either. Camo suggests "I'm ready, I've got good stuff that you might need." Don't want anyone to think I'm a good target to rob. Maybe a nice brown or dull grey.
I think something that doesn't attract attention is better. If you need to attract attention, you can always use a flashlight, a fire, or a bright bandanna or something depending on your needs. In the urban jungle, camo sticks out too. It might be better to get something that looks ordinary.
great site x
Love it, but it's a bit black!
just found you and looks interesting so far lots of great info! – regnod(at)yahoo(d0t0com
Brilliant idea
Cool product and your blog is fab as always.
Thanks. Have a great Thanksgiving.
great giveaway!!! Thanks for the opportunity!
Aaah – I didn't think you'd be able to top last month's giveaway, but you did! Awesome!
First visit and a very interesting an informative site
Stumbled across this – Great looking site – looking forward to more
Great info on being prepared.
What is your opinion on gopicnic meals, are they worth the cost or are MREs more practical?
writer61 at yahoo dot com
I don't know a lot about GoPicnic, but from what I can tell, they are ok. Their shelf life is pretty short though. They advertise 90 days which is not good for long term storage if that is what you are looking at. MREs are good, but their life depends on how you store them.
How Long Will my Stored Food Last?
so much great info! thanks!
This is a really neat site. I love reading information on various aspects of prepping..you never know what might happen and it always pays to be prepared!
I love it!!!!! I am a big giveaway hopper and love when I find giveaways that are worth while. We can all have the top of the line phones or computers I see so many giveaways for them everyday. But what you dont see alot of is Emergency Preparedness giveaways witch can safe your familys life. I am a stay at home mother of 3 and cant work because of an illness so my husbands income is all we have but we both worry about doomsday whatever it may be. We try and put away but its hard so I enter giveaways for the extra things I really see very little Emergency Preparedness giveaways but I look for them all the time because this is what I want to win more then anything I want to be as ready as I can! So I love your blog I think it is the best one I have seen and I love your giveaways. YOU ROCK!!!
