How a Standard Vehicle with Extra Customization Can Protect You

You see them in safari-related movies, on hunting tours and even on the roads nowadays. It’s not a Jeep, although their heavy-duty design allows them to compete against other off-road vehicles. With a legacy originating in Japan back in the early 1950s[1], the Toyota Land Cruiser has become a popular vehicle in countless countries all over the globe.

But why is this particular vehicle so highly desired, and how can it work for you?

Today, many use the Land Cruiser as a regular civilian vehicle due to its SUV looks, seating capacity, speed and superior engine size as well as its overall availability around the world. Newer models even allow buyers to choose unleaded or diesel engine options.

However, unbeknownst to many, there may be a bigger punch underneath the vehicle’s V-8 diesel or petrol engine. Many security companies (or their clients) specifically request this vehicle for transportation because of its unparalleled safety and customization capabilities. Specialty businesses offer the ability to transfer a vehicle’s drive shaft from left-hand drive to right-hand drive, which makes it perfect for international use in locations where the road systems are vastly different to how American transportation infrastructures function.

When considering an armored car company, what features do they offer that can boost security for a standard Land Cruiser model? Here are some of the most popular customizable safety features:

  • Bullet resistant glass
  • Reinforced steel frames
  • Added composite steel for doors and roof
  • Roof escape options
  • Self-sealing gun ports
  • Run flat tires

Did you know that, when shot at, bullet resistant glass acts like a giant piece of plastic wrap, and its layers of glass and plastic safely envelop each bullet fragment? Furthermore, by reinforcing the vehicle’s body with composite steel plates, it makes the vehicle able to withstand dangerous collisions as well as more impervious to blasts caused by improvised explosion devices (IEDs).

These aforementioned features can be combined to create an exceptional level of road protection, making it much more difficult to damage than a standard vehicle. Even in relation to bullet spray, a customized Land Cruiser can offer extra protection for its inhabitants. Perhaps this is why so many law enforcement agencies, security companies, and private military organizations request this type of vehicle as they go about their duties.

This was a good read. So true! It takes a lot of mental strength for someone to raise a family with this lifestyle on a day to day basis.

I like the run flat tire feature. I hope to also see this have a biodiesel feature as that would be a useful alternative.

All great stuff to have for a vehicle! Also, I would want to build a water to fuel converter in the back.
